Federal Regulations in Canada are effective since 1997 and were revised 1999 and 2012. The 2012 revised efficiency legislation is similar to EISA 2007, it became valid 12.04.2012. Motors must be qualified by NRCan, a regulatory body. Regulations apply to motors that are imported into Canada or transported across provincial/territorial borders for the purpose of sale or lease. All motors regardless of the output power and speed combination destined to Canada must bear a Safety certificate marking, such as CSA. In addition, motors subject to energy efficiency requlation must be approved and certified.
