TriDry transformers are the newest addition to ABB’s dry-type transformer portfolio.
The triangular core construction reduces the weight of the transformer by 15% -20% as compared to a standard dry-type transformer. In addition, the footprint is 25% more compact which can lead to significant savings in buildings and installation costs.
Transformer no-load losses are about 20% lower with the triangular core construction. ABB sells the TriDry transformers only in reduced loss versions (A0 or B0 acc. to EN 50541-1).
Other advantages of the triangular core construction include reduced harmonics, reduced inrush current, reduced sound level and improved EMC.
Like all ABB dry-type transformers TriDry offers maximum security for people, installations and the environment. TriDry is easy to install, requires no additional equipment or maintenance.
