A common trend among steel producers is to increase the rating of their electrical arc furnaces, in order to melt more steel faster. However, this requires a great deal of power, and the available power supply is often poor and insufficient. In order to make such an investment feasible, ABB provides a reactive power compensation system especially designed for weak power networks and severe voltage support issues.
