Rapid delivery of proven high efficiency power and automation solutions
Bangalore, August 1, 2011 – ABB Limited, India, has won orders worth 161 million (MINR) to supply turnkey power and automation solution for three photovoltaic solar power plants with a combined capacity of 11 megawatts (MW) in India.
The orders comprise of two 5 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power plants and one 1 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant. When completed in October this year, the plants will have an annual generating capacity of up to17.6 Gigawatt-hours of electricity, avoiding approximately12500 MTs of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to the annual emissions of about 3100 Indian cars.
ABB is responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation commissioning of the plants and will deliver the turnkey electrical and control solution within an extremely short time span of sixteen weeks. Key products to be supplied include inverters, low-voltage equipment, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, cables, distributed control systems, remote monitoring systems and auxiliary systems.
The equipment is designed to minimize power losses and maximize efficiency, and includes high efficiency inverters and technologies for the accurate control and remote monitoring of the plant. "Our pre-assembled, factory-tested electrical balance-of-plant modules combined with our domain expertise and proven track records in project execution enable us to deliver an optimized solution in a short span of time" said Priteesh Mahajan, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Strategy and Head of ABB India's industry sector initiatives.
